Edward Virgil Haley Sr., 92, passed away on May 8, 2017. Mr. Haley was born on January 25, 1925 in Memphis, TN to Isiah Virgil and Ila Berta Evans Haley. He was active in the Chickasaw Council Boy Scouts of America in his younger years and became an Eagle Scout, and a distinguished member of the Order of the Arrow, the National Honor Society of the Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Haley also served as a Boy Scout Master for several years, and served as a Merchant Marine in WWII. Most recently, he was a member of Munford Baptist Church, and a previous member of Leawood Baptist Church where he drove a church bus as part of their church ministry. Mr. Haley retired from International Harvester after 32 years of employment. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, as well as two sisters, Sara Jean Lydick, and Doris Haley, a brother, Bert Virgil Haley, and a wife, Bonnie Louise Copeland Haley. He is survived by his wife, Mary Estelle Haley of Munford TN, and four children, Bonnie Jean Hill (Richard) of Arlington TN, Jana Lynn Pipkin (Mike) of Lakeland, TN, Edward Virgil Haley Jr. (Rebecca), of Cedar Grove, TN and stepson, Richard McVay (Rhonda) of Munford, TN. He leaves eleven grandchildren, Tracey Thompson (Bill), Tina Matus, Jennifer Flake (David), Whitley Haley, Copeland Haley, and Haley Lipscomb (Brandon), Amy Hubbard (Kyle), Chris Pipkin, Kyndall McVay, Samantha Blanchard, and Alex Blanchard, as well as fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Visitation is from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, at High Point Funeral Home on Summer Avenue, with a graveside service following in Memphis Memory Gardens on Raleigh Lagrange Road at 2 p.m.
