It is with great sadness that the family of Jack E. Morton Jr. announces his passing due to illness, on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the age of 77 years.

Jack was born on May 15, 1940 in Memphis, Tennessee. He graduated from Treadwell High School in 1958 and played for both his school and ROTC bands. Jack was a newspaper carrier for the Commercial Appeal until he joined the U.S. Navy where he served from 1957 until 1963. In 1961, he began his long career in the meat industry working at Armour & Company, Superior Brand Meats, Rudy's Farm, and Sara Lee Corporation/Jimmy Dean Foods. Ever friendly and sociable, he was a natural in his second career as a real estate agent and recently retired with Century 21 Zaytoun-Raines in New Bern, NC. Jack loved his community, church, and most of all, his family.

Jack is survived by his wife of 28 years, Bonnie; his nine children: Jack E. Morton III, Lisa Falkenbach (Larry), Rebecca Gonzalez (PJ), Corey Morton, Lance Morton, Brett Norman (Leslie), Aimee Vandemark (Aaron), Joshua Norman (Lisa) and Meghan Weatherly (Matt), sixteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and brother, Dale Morton.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 25 for family at High Point Funeral Home located at 3788 Summer Avenue, followed by a graveside service for friends and family in Forest Hill Cemetery located at 1661 Elvis Presley Blvd.
