Jim Scott passed away at home on Friday, March 17, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alma Raymond Scott and Harriett Hood Scott, and by his sister, Betty Ray Hudson. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Billie J. "Sandy" Scott, his son James Michael Scott, siblings Joann Sipowich (Bob), Raymond Herbert Scott (Peggy) , Trudy Pettigrew (Joe), Beverly Scott (Gene - dec.), and Janie Scott Akers (Howard), and step-children Sheila Watson (Bob), Cheryl Greene (Bill), and Pam Gooch (Tim) He also leaves four grandchildren: Elisa Greene, Nathan Greene, Allison Gooch, and Austin Gooch (Catherine).

Jim was born in Memphis December 10, 1946, graduated from Bartlett High School, then completed several years of training at Memphis State University. He became a mortgage loan officer and pursued several other business interests before retiring. He was very active as a member of Kirby Woods Baptist Church, teaching bible studies and participating in many domestic and international mission trips. He pursued his passion to bring others to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ through his work as a lay minister, holding regular services in local settings. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 21 at Kirby Woods Baptist Church, 6325 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN, with services to follow at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
