James Lyndon Turner, a caring and loving person, passed away, Monday May 29, 2017 in Frisco, Texas. He had lived in the Dallas, Texas area for the past 29 years. His father, sisters, brother, and many of his relatives live in the Memphis area. His father is Pastor Emeritus of East Trigg Avenue Baptist Church in Memphis.

James was born in Tyler, Texas on September 14, 1964 to Christian parents, Samuel Turner, Jr. and Naomi McAfee Turner.

He was baptized by his father in 1973, and became a member of Beth Salem Baptist Church in Forrest City, Arkansas, of which his father was pastor.

He graduated from West Memphis Arkansas, Senior High School in 1982, and from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas in 1986 with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.

He was an accomplished musician excelling in all woodwind instruments and piano. He won the first chair position as an alto saxophonist in All State, a high school band competition in 1982. He thrilled many music lovers with his skills in playing the piano.

He worked for twenty-seven years in the Dallas, Texas area in Information Technology. He was employed at Bank of America. At the time of his death, he was Vice President, Senior System Analyst in Mortgage Technology. His manager said that, "As Vice President at Bank of America, James was beloved by colleagues and customers alike. In his role as a senior systems analyst, he brought his customers his depth of technical knowledge and sharp instinct for problem solving. His team valued not only his contributions, but also the great attitude he brought to work with him each day."

He was preceded in death by his mother, Naomi McAfee Turner. He leaves to mourn his passing: his father, Samuel Turner, Jr. and his wife, Sharon; his brother, Samuel Turner III and his wife, Susan; and one stepbrother, Victor H. Williams IV; his two sisters, Ruth E. Hicks and her friend, Anthony, Lelia M. Young and her husband, Kevin; and one stepsister, Dr. Cynthia Calhoun; two uncles: Chester Turner and his wife, Inez, and Obbie Turner; and four aunts: Ruby McClinton, Alberta Hardaway, Mamie Wesley, and Lucy Turner; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 10, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., with funeral services following at 11 a.m., all at East Trigg Avenue Baptist Church 1315 S. Bellevue, Memphis, TN. Interment will follow in New Park Cemetery 4536 Horn Lake Rd, Memphis, TN.
