James William "Jimmy" Traylor, III, 69, husband of Constance "Connie" Smith Traylor, died April 5, 2017.

Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Somerville. Private Interment: Memphis Memory Gardens Cemetery in Memphis. Visitation: 10:15 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22 at the Church.

He was born February 15, 1948 in Millington and in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, receiving decorations for valor and meritorious service. After his military service, He was a fireman in Texas for many years before returning to the Memphis area with his family. He was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church and the American Legion. Jimmy and Connie married on April 20, 1974, and joyfully welcomed their son, James William "Billy" Traylor, IV into the world on September 10, 1989. Together the family spent many hours at "camp" fishing and enjoying the outdoors. Jimmy was also an enthusiastic gardener.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his son, James William Traylor, IV of Oakland; sister, Jo Ann Baker (Charles) of Germantown; brother, Denis Traylor (Tina) of Memphis; and sister-in-law, MaryAnn Traylor of Eads. He was preceded by his parents, James William Traylor II and Mary Kathrine Glancy Traylor and brother, Charles Traylor.
