Jamie Bartlett Mayo, 90, celebrated the Lord's day, Sunday, September 9, 2018, by going to be with Him. She was born to James O. W. Bartlett and Sallie Kent Bartlett on June 1928 in Dumas, Mississippi. After High School graduation, she moved to Memphis where she met and married her beloved David R. Mayo. To this union their two children were born, Dianna Mayo Simpson (Jerry) and David R. Mayo, Jr. (Lannece). She began her work career as a switchboard operator, and held several other jobs, eventually retiring from Dobbs Houses, Inc. She was a charter member of Leaclair Baptist Church (now New Church Memphis) in Memphis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Gara B. Drewery, and son-in-law, Jerry Simpson. She will be missed by her nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday, September 13, between 5-8 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue in Memphis. A Funeral service will held on Friday, September 14, at 10 a.m. at Memphis Funeral Home with burial at Bartlett-Ellendale Cemetery, 7044 Memphis Arlington Road.

Bro. Gary Griffis, Senior Pastor of New Church Memphis, will lead the Funeral Service. Memorials in Jamie Mayo's name can be made to New Church Memphis, 4917 Macon Road, Memphis, TN 38122.
