Janice Creagh Broxterman

Memphis, TN

Janice Creagh Broxterman, 76, died peacefully on May 2, 2017 in Albuquerque, NM from complications related to emphysema.

Born and raised in Memphis, Janice remained fond of her Tennessee roots. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School, attended Mount St. Mary's College in Hooksett, NH, and then Memphis State University, where she met and married Burton Broxterman. They had four children and eventually settled in Albuquerque in 1972, where Janice launched her career in insurance and retirement plan sales. She started an independent brokerage and attained the premier designations in her field: ChFC, CIC, CLU, and LUTCF. She completed her BS in Business Administration at Chapman University while working full time and raising her family.

Janice was active in professional and community organizations, including teaching professional development courses and serving as president of the New Mexico Arthritis Foundation. In retirement, she immersed herself in genealogy, contributing to the record-keeping for her church and researching her family history.

Janice was kind, gracious and fiercely proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was loved and will be missed.

Janice is survived by her children, Cathryn, Elizabeth, Kimberly (Craig), and Daniel (Charlotte); grandchildren, William R., Gregory (Joanne), Jennifer, Meghan, Hanna, Dylan, Carson, William J., and Catherine; great-grandchildren, Justin, Kai, Kenneth, and Julianna; siblings, Judith (Carl), Robert (Margot), and David; and her former husband, Burt.

A vigil from 4:30 - 6 p.m. on May 19 at Canale Funeral Directors in Memphis will precede the rite of committal at 9 a.m. on May 20 in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial gifts, in lieu of flowers, may be sent to San Francisco de Asís Parish, c/o St. Joseph Parish, P.O. Box 98, Cerrillos, NM 87010; memo "Broxterman: SF de Asis Building Fund".
