Janice Kee Doerflein, 92, died January 23, 2017 in Woodstock, GA. She lived in Memphis from birth until 2015 when she moved to be nearer her children. She is survived by her sister, Joyce Waller, of Ventura, CA, daughter, Michele Doerflein, of Marietta, GA, son Steve Doerflein (Barbara) of Charlotte, NC, grandson Jonathan Doerflein (Cristol) of Columbus, OH and their two children, as well as granddaughter, Anna Haylock, (Stephen) of San Diego, CA and their two girls. Among family in Memphis are her cousin, Essie Brown, and four nieces. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Oral Kee of Memphis.

Janice earned education degrees from the University of Memphis. She held various positions in the Memphis City Schools for 27 years, including teacher, facilitator for the Division of Race Relations, and parent/teacher coordinator. She enjoyed musicals and ushered regularly at the Orpheum Theatre. For sixty years she attended Union Avenue Church of Christ (later Woodland Hills CoC.) Her joy was children; she was a long-time teacher and coordinator for their children's Bible classes.

She was buried in Marietta, GA. A memorial celebration will be held this Saturday, April 8th, at 1 p.m. at Woodland Hills Church of Christ in Cordova. Donations honoring her may be sent to .
