Jennie Marie Captino Phillips, 93, died peacefully on Saturday, April 22, at Methodist Hospice.

Jennie was born Giovannina Captino on June 15, 1923, the third of seven children to the late Andrew and Rosalia Favazza Captino (Cupertino), both Italian immigrants. She attended St. Patrick School and graduated from St. Agnes Academy in 1941. She married the late William Lester Phillips in 1947.

Jennie worked in the pre-teen department at Goldsmith's department store from 1947-1948 and then again from 1965 until her retirement in 1986. She was a communicant of St. Ann Catholic Church in Bartlett.

Besides her parents and husband, Jennie was preceded in death by four brothers-Walter Joseph Capatino, Leo Thomas Captino, Joseph Andrew Captino, and Samuel Anthony Captino-and a grandson, William Christopher Phillips.

Jennie leaves her daughter, Linda Phillips Westbury (Jim), of Griffin, Georgia; two sons, William Andrew Phillips (Roseann) of Memphis and Joseph Lester Phillips (Lauri) of Olive Branch; her sister, Bernice Captino Lauterbach (Don) of Plano, Texas; her brother, Anthony Michael Captino (Beth) of Griffin, Georgia; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss her deeply and cherish her memory.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 25, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bartlett, followed by entombment at Memphis Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be sent to .
