Jerry Neil Davis

Jerry Neil Davis, age 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 1, 2021 at Select Specialty Hospital in Memphis, TN after battling COVID for six weeks. He was born at home on April 9th, 1942 in Pemiscot County to Annie and Jimmy Davis. Jerry was a devout member of Collierville First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for over two decades. Before enjoying retirement with his dear wife Carolyn, Jerry worked as a banker at First Tennessee Bank for thirty-nine years. Jerry was an avid fisherman and when in doubt, he was on a river somewhere where he would remain until the sun went down. He pursued his passion every day that he could and was a true fisher of men.

Carolyn knew him as a faithful husband of fifty-five years. His children, Lisa and Brad, knew him as a Godly, loving father. His seven grandchildren knew him as a doting grandfather. His family knew him as both a jokester and as someone who was always there for anyone in need. All knew him as a king amongst men, a pillar of strength, and a person who was never without a smile and a warm handshake. As a faithful follower of Christ, we know Jerry has arrived in his eternal home with his precious Lord and Savior. He passed from Earth into the arms of Jesus. From the banks of heaven, he casts his line. Eternally at peace. Eternally content. Eternally in our hearts. Jerry is survived by his wife and two children. Flowers can be sent to John W. German Funeral Home or donations can be made in Jerry's name to Ethnos360 (New Tribes Ministries) where he spent many summers serving. The funeral service for friends and family, officiated by Pastor Chuck Herring, was held at John W. German Funeral Home in Steele, MO at 2 p.m. on Tuesday the 5th of January. Interment was in Mount Zion Cemetery in Steele, Missouri, with full military honors. Pallbearers were: Brad and Drew Davis, Brad and Caleb Hilliard, Brian Hicks, and Jacob Doan.

Sad to hear of Jerry’s passing, but my thoughts and prayers are with Carolyn and the family.
My family moved from Memphis years ago, but my memories of Jerry remain fresh. We were nearby neighbors and fellow members of Broadmoor Baptist Church. Some of my fondest memories are the years Jerry and I coached our young sons’ (Brad’s and Jason’s) basketball teams.
Jerry was a great guy, always positive and a good friend. He was cheerful and kind, and had an obviously strong love for his family.
I know he’ll be missed by everyone who knew him, but we know where we can find him.
God bless Carolyn and the Davis family...

We are sorry to hear that Jerry is no longer with us. He was a friend and a Christian gentleman. Our grandchildren were saddened to hear about the "duck man." May the love of friends and family comfort you in your grief.

So very very sorry to learn of Jerry's passing! Carolyn, if I had known in time, I would have tried to attend, but I just found out from Deborah tonight. I will be praying for you and your family. What a happy fulfilled life you have shared with Jerry. May the Lord comfort you.

I am Jerry Davis’ cousin, Sandra Davis Morris, and lived with my wonderful gramma, Flossie Davis, 5 summers. Jerry was always picking me up to go get Carolyn and away we went. They made my summers there full of good memories. He always made Carolyn and me laugh and laugh, he watched out for us.

Over the years, I have seen him at the Davis family reunions, we always played rook and had fun. Sadly we always showed up at the funerals to see our loved ones off

I have always known Jerry to be a follower of Christ and a spiritual man, a good husband and father, a good son, brother and cousin.

It is with my soul, I bid him farewell, we will meet you on that beautiful shore, where the charming roses bloom forever and ever and separation comes no more.

My Love to you
