Joanne Mary Gandee, at the age of 84, departed to Heaven Monday, September 10, 2018 to meet the Lord and reunite with her husband Bud, who had preceded her in 2009. Joanne spent her last days at Apple Grove Residence. She was the oldest of ten children (Joanne Gandee, Paul Hodgson, Jane Harrell, Jeanne Cassel, Fred Hodgson, Julene Hansen, John Hodgson, Janice Clark, Joyce Courtney, Joe Hodgson), born in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Guy and Mae Hodgson.

Her family moved west during the depression years settling in California where Joanne graduated from San Jose High School. Joanne married Bud Gandee on November 21, 1953 and the romance continued throughout their marriage celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2003 in Memphis, TN. Bud and Joanne traveled across America and the world enjoying life.

Joanne was a loving mother to her four children, Rhonda, Joh, Karen and Todd and is survived by eight grandchildren, Thomas Gandee, Andrew Gandee, Jackson Gandee, Danny Lincoln, David Lincoln, Heather Branstetter, Garrett Welborn, Sierra Wilson and two great grandchildren, Abby and Ryder Wilson.

Joanne was devoted to the Lord and her family, particularly her grandchildren. As the oldest of ten, she learned early to take care of her younger brothers and sisters and was most at home with young children all her life. Her sweet spirit affected all those around. She loved music, singing in groups and choirs and sharing her talent as a pianist with churches and retirement communities.

Joanne worked a Secretary in the East Grand Rapids School District in Michigan, a Legal Secretary to Attorney Frank Jackson in Memphis and an Executive Secretary at International Paper in Memphis where she retired.

Joanne was a long time member of Bellevue Baptist Church, a Charter member of Crossroads Baptist Church and attended Kirby Woods Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, September 14, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 15 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Entombment will be in the Memorial Park Mausoleum.
