Joe Weideman Armour, Sr., 93, of Byhalia, MS, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017 at his home in the Cayce community, where he was born and lived his entire life. Mr. Armour was a 1943 graduate of Collierville High School and was a Dairy Farmer and Milk Hauler throughout his career. He was a founding member of Cayce Baptist Church and was instrumental in starting the Cayce Volunteer Fire Department and the New Salem Cemetery Corporation. Mr. Armour was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Leonard Armour and Ann Lucille Armour, his first wife, Betty Lanier Armour, his second wife, Virginia Rickman Armour, his step-son, John Rickman, two brothers, Robert Lynn Armour and Billy Farris Armour, and one sister, Ann Armour Richmond. He is survived by two daughters, Betsy Armour Gumpert (Al) and Sarah Armour Harris (Richard), one son, Joe Weideman Armour, Jr. (Lynn), one step-son David Rickman (Teresa),eleven grandchildren, Amy Datla (Srinivas), Ben Gumpert (Meagan), Rebecca Rodriguez (Bogar), Shelby Dixon (Brendan), Joseph Armour, Harrison Armour, Jane Frances Armour, Angela Griffith (Brad), Kimberly Schratz (Mark), Lauren Rickman, and Ricky Rickman, seven great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters, one sister, Elner Armour Rainey, and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend special appreciation to his beloved caregiver and friend, Elmo Kinkle and his caregiver, Claudette Bogard. The family will receive friends on Sunday October 8, from 1 p.m. until the funeral service begins at 3 p.m., all at Collierville Funeral Home, 534 W. Poplar Avenue Collierville, TN. Interment will follow in New Salem Cemetery in Cayce, MS. Memorials may be made to Cayce Baptist Church, New Salem Cemetery Corporation, or Cayce Volunteer Fire Department.
