John A. Landey Obituary
John A. Landey

Arlington, TN

John A Landey, 60, went home to God, April 11, 2017 after bravely battling a lengthy illness. John wanted to simply be remembered as a loving husband, a loving dad and grandpa, and a man who served his country. He was all those things and more. A native of Minnesota, John joined the U.S. Air Force where he served for more than 25 years with honor and distinction. Upon retirement he relocated to Pensacola, Florida where he earned a Bachelor's and Master's degrees and worked for a major construction firm during one of the Gulf Coast's busiest 10 year hurricane period. He moved to Memphis in 2005 and began a brave battle with multiple illness starting with cancer in 2006. He was always patient, kind, and easy-going regardless of whatever trials he faced.

John is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Rose (Calhoun) Landey, his loving mom, Julene (Foix) Landey, three children - Michael, Mary, Brianna Landey, four grandchildren - Johnathan, Tessa, Lelah, Kara, brother Allen and wife Polly Landey, and 3 sisters - Lola (Landey) and Lee Tommila, Nel (Landey) Hanson, Lois (Landey) and John Figula and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Father, Archie Allen Landey and his loving grandparents. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the nursing staff at St. Francis Hospital Bartlett and Dr.s Marguerite Lamothe, Tulio Bertorinni, Syed Shirazee, Ron Lawson, Ramon Ungab, and Jeff Frizzell for their years of hard work and dedication.

A Life Celebration will be held at Hope Presbyterian Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 15th and a graveside service at 11 a.m. and with a reception to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Southwest Tennessee Community College, University of West Florida, and MDA Muscle Walk of Memphis in his memory.
