John Charles Hancock Obituary
John Charles Hancock

Memphis, tn

John Charles Hancock lost his battle with Alzheimer's Disease on May 13, 2018. He was 81 years old, and lived the life of a true American hobbyist. The loving husband to Karen and father to Steven (Stephanie) and Trent (Angela), he was the proud grandfather of four.

Upon high school graduation, John entered the United States Navy where he faithfully served his country as a signalman. He returned to his home state of Wisconsin and worked until retirement as a lithographer. After retiring at the age of 59, he moved to Leesburg, Florida where he enjoyed the sunshine, and traveled the world with his best friend - Karen. He moved to Germantown two and a half years ago to be closer to family.

John will be remembered for his remarkable and varied hobbies. Often learning from books checked out from the public library, John obtained expert status as a luthier, photographer, vintner and angler. He competed as an Olympic-level archer and pursued his passion of biking. Serving as a Presbyterian Deacon and a long-time church choir member, John loved to volunteer for the church he loved so dearly.

Services will be held at Second Presbyterian Church in the Chapel on Monday, May 21 at 10 a.m. The family will receive guests immediately following the service. He will be interred in Memphis National Cemetery.
