Memphis, TN

John Robertson Pepper, III, a beloved father, brother and son, passed away on Sunday, March 26. A native Memphian, Johnnie, as he was known by his family and close friends, attended Darlington School in Rome, GA where he excelled in tennis and cross country. After graduation, he attended the University of Mississippi where he pledged Kappa Alpha fraternity. He was honorably discharged from the US Navy and received the National Defense Medal. He loved the outdoors, particularly duck hunting at Menasha in Arkansas and spending summers at his parents mountain retreat in Monteagle, TN. He was also very proud of his daughter Rennie who also attended and ran cross country at Darlington School and later moved to New York City to have a successful career in finance. He attended St. John's Episcopal Church.

He was preceded by his parents Alella and John Pepper, II. Survived by Sam Reynolds Pepper of Anchorage, AK, his daughter Vivian Reynolds Pepper "Rennie" of Austin, TX, Marianne Pepper of Tunica MS; cousins, Ann Aldinger and Susan Olinger of Memphis, TN., Bill Hadaway of Tulsa, OK, and Allen Hadaway of Canadian, TX.

Visitation will be 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Canale Funeral Directors in Memphis, TN with graveside service to follow at 1:30 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Tunica, MS.

The family requests memorials be sent to Monteagle Sunday School Assembly, PO Box 307, Monteagle TN 37356-0307.
