Kevin Ryan Obituary
Brother Kevin Ryan, FSC

Memphis, TN

Brother Kevin Ryan, FSC, De LaSalle Christian Brother, at Christian Brothers University Associate Professor and formerly Christian Brothers High School teacher, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017, at age 78, and in the 61st year of his Religious profession as a De La Salle Christian Brother. He announced his retirement from the classroom teaching in May of 2017 and had planned to begin a less-structured life to begin this present school year. His particular interest was astronomy and at times he could be seen at night with groups of students in his residence yard studying various phases of the moon and varying star formations. He died the day before the total eclipse, an event he must have awaited with great interest and enthusiasm.

Brother, a native of St. Paul, MN is survived by his sister, Maureen Wolter, of St. Paul, MN, several nieces and nephews, and his Christian Brothers community of Lambert Hall on the Christian Brothers University campus and Christian Brothers High School. Preceded him in death was his brother, James A. Ryan.

Brother was a sports enthusiast; golf being his personal game of choice; the Twins and Vikings his celebrated teams; and all Christian Brothers High School and University sports, but especially football at Christian Brothers High School.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 26 at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, with Wake Services from 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. A Reception will follow the mass in Marian Hall.

Private Graveside Service on Monday, August 28 at Calvary Cemetery will include the Brothers and Affiliated Members, AFSC.

In memory of Bro. Kevin Ryan, please make any donations to the Midwest District the Brothers Christian Schools or Christian Brothers University.
