Leman P. Albrecht, 78, of Nesbit, MS, formerly of Byhalia, MS, where he resided at his beloved Rabbit Ridge. Mr. Albrecht retired after 37 years of service with Alcoa, where he was the inventor of the tamper-evident drop-loc closure, effecting the safety of many consumer products. He was the Godfather of Cowboy Action Shooting in the South which led to his development and building of the Mississippi River Rangers. Mr. Albrecht was an avid woodworker, outdoorsman, British sports car enthusiast, and a long time member of Redeemer Evangelical Church in Collierville, TN. Mr. Albrecht is survived by the greatest love of his life, Patty; his three children, Jeff Albrecht (Joy), Julie Albrecht Washburn (John), and Jennifer Albrecht, and his three grandchildren, Brian and Kevin Washburn and Kristy Albrecht. He is also survived by his sister, JoAnn Smith. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 11, from 2 p.m. until the Memorial Service begins at 3 p.m. at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch, MS. A reception and gathering of friends will follow from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
