Louise Bursi Grandi, age 100, died February 11, 2017, two days before her 101st birthday, leaving her beloved husband Armond of 35 years of marriage.

She was born in 1916 of her immigrant father, Joe Bursi, from Bassignana, Italy and her mother, Johanna Priora Bursi of Memphis. She was preceded in death by her sisters Lucille Gallini (Tony) and Florence Gallini (Albert) and her nieces Donna Cox and Abby Hamric. She leaves a brother Joe Bursi, Jr. (Pat) of Memphis. She also leaves her nieces and nephews Diane Markee (Mark), Dan Gallini, Pat Fowler, Tony Gallini (Susan), Debbie Bursi, Mike Bursi (Lydia) Becky Hamric (Ken), seven great nieces and nephews and 11 great-great nieces and nephews.

Louise was well taken care of for almost five years day and night by her treasured caregivers, Helen Harden, Brenda Moten, Gwen Allen and many others. Her dedicated niece and caregiver, Diane Markee, made all of the trips to the doctors' offices and always stayed with her in the hospital.

In her early days she helped her daddy grow vegetable plants for his farm on Winchester Rd. She loved taking care of her nieces and nephews and they always said she was their second momma. She was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of Church of the Holy Spirit. She enjoyed cooking Italian dishes which were always delicious and was well known for her homemade ravioli and spaghetti gravy. She and her husband were members of Memphis Bocce Club. She had a great time traveling around the states with her husband Armond for Bocce tournaments, Knights of Columbus bowling tournaments, and sight seeing. She was the matriarch and heart of her family and will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 15 from 5-8 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis. A rosary will at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, February 16 at 10 a.m. at Church of the Holy Spirit, 2300 Hickory Crest Drive, Memphis. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Mrs. Grandi may be offered to the Monestary of St. Clare, Memphis or .
