Margaret Evie Cartwright Obituary
Margaret Evie Cartwright

Lakeland

Margaret Evie Cartwright, 92, of Memphis, TN died peacefully in her home on the 25th of June 2017. Margaret "looked well to the ways of her household, her children rise up and call her blessed; the teaching of kindness is on her tongue". She is woman of great love and dignity, a true example of God's ezer k'negodo. She was a survivor of the Great Depression, a WAC in World War II, a wise counselor, a fixer of homes and hearts, a sister, a wife, a mother to all, a grandmother, and a friend; a woman completely content in her own skin. She is the dear matriarch of the Cartwright family. She is preceded in death by her late husband, Earl Cartwright; her son-in-law, Joe Alexander, her granddaughter, Courtney Alexander, and her 11 siblings. She leaves behind her four children: Cheryl Alexander of Olathe, Kansas, David Earl Cartwright (Patricia); Mike Cartwright (Cynthia); and Richard L. Cartwright. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Greg Cartwright (Esther); Adam Cartwright (Regan); Brandon Cartwright; Michelle Salman(Carlos), Melissa Arrowood (Zach), Melaney Palmer (Ben), Jerica Hoskins (Steven), Patrick Cartwright (Alicia); and 14 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30 p.m., Friday, June 30 followed by funeral services at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will be in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on Monday, July 3 at 2 p.m. There will be a Celebration of Life reception at Seasons 52 on Friday immediately following the service.
