Mary Williams Weymouth Minor Obituary
Mary Williams Weymouth Minor

Memphis, TN

Mary Williams Weymouth Minor departed this earth on June 20, 2017. She was born in Crenshaw, MS on August 27, 1926 to Charles Dudley and Mary Belle Lewers Williams. She spent her entire adult life in Memphis. Her love affair with the city included memories of the Cotton Exchange, Cotton Carnival, and spring in bloom when Mary was convinced that Memphis had put on her finest party dress. She loved all things blooming and beautiful. She was a member of Arawata Garden Club and an honorary member of Hedgemoor Garden Club. Mary was a realtor and knew Memphis extremely well.

Mary had an uncanny ability to find the joy and beauty of almost any place or situation combined with an indomitable spirit. Her appreciation of beauty in the world fostered a love of fashion, decorating, architecture, and art.

She was fortunate to have traveled extensively and during her long life had acquired many good friends. Her generosity touched many people over the years, often times done discreetly and anonymously, as was her way; always offered with a loving heart, genuine concern, and caring for others. It has been said that a person is a success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much. By any of these regards Mary was a success.

She was a longtime member of Saint John's Episcopal Church until she moved to Trezevant Manor where she was a congregant of Saint Edward Chapel.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters, and husbands Claude R. Weymouth and Lucian S. Minor. Mary is survived by her sisters, Gloria W. Harrison of Forney, TX and Rose W. Brown of Fort Pierce, FL. She is also survived by a nephew in Memphis, James D. Fletcher, and nieces and nephews across the country.

The family wish is to express their heartfelt appreciation to Shirley Meeks for her long devoted and loving care of Mary.

Private burial will be conducted at Saint John's Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Saint Edward Chapel-Trezevant Manor at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2017.Visitation is after the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that you consider a donation in Mary's name to one of her favorite charities: the Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association (MIFA) of Memphis, the Church Health Center of Memphis, or Saint Edward Chapel.
