Minnie Evans Podesta was born in Memphis on January 5, 1927, the daughter of Thomas A. and Mary Hays Evans. She died September 30 after a long illness. "Teeny" as she was known to family and friends, graduated from the Hutchison School. She attended St. Mary's of the Woods College in Terre Haute, Indiana and Southwestern at Memphis (now Rhodes College) where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority.

In 1953, Teeny married Eugene Joseph Podesta, to whom she was married for 55 years until his death in 2008. She is survived by two daughters, Camille Podesta Thompson (Mike), and Elizabeth Podesta Blumenfeld (Jesse), one son, Eugene Joseph Podesta, Jr. (Martha), eight grandchildren, Meredith Thompson Canale (Nick), Michael Thompson (Marie), Sam Podesta (Mallory), Will Podesta, Scott Podesta, Sarah Elizabeth Podesta, Betsy Blumenfeld, Frank Blumenfeld, and two great grandchildren. Teeny was preceded in death by her husband, her sister, Mary Hays Evans and her brother, Thomas Airey Evans, Jr.

She was a parishioner of St. Louis Catholic Church for over 50 years. She was formerly a member of the Junior League of Memphis and the University Club of Memphis. Teeny enjoyed reading, playing tennis and bridge, and the company of family and friends.

The family is grateful to Aretha Franklin and Lisa Robinson for the devoted care they provided during Teeny's illness.

Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m., Wednesday, October 4 at Canale Funeral Directors. Funeral Mass will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, October 5 at St. Louis Catholic Church, with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
