Noah Neal Danley, 94, died March 22, 2017, at The Arbors at South Breeze, in Memphis. He was born February 12, 1923, in Iron City, TN, the youngest of three children of Prince Henry and Ollie Moore Danley. He graduated from Lawrence County High School in 1941 and then was employed with the Tennessee Highway Department. Mr. Danley volunteered for the U.S. Army in 1942 and participated in the invasion of France, serving in France, Belgium, and Germany until November 1945. Upon his return to the States, he graduated in 1948 from Cumberland University School of Law at Lebanon, TN, (and in 1969 was awarded a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the Cumberland School of Law of Samford University in Birmingham, AL). Mr. Danley reentered the Army and served in occupied Japan as a legal officer, then returned to Germany for two tours as an Artillery officer in the late 1950's. He retired from the U.S. Army Reserve at the rank of Captain in 1983. After his active Army service, he rejoined the Tennessee Department of Transportation, retiring as Chief of Acquisitions, Right of Way, in 1985.

Mr. Danley married Jean Elizabeth Wilburn in 1951, settled in Centerville, TN, in 1964, and lived there until moving to assisted living in Memphis in 2013. He was a life-long member of the Baptist church, serving as teacher, Sunday School superintendent, Deacon, and Trustee for many decades. Before moving to Memphis, he and Jean were members of Fairfield Baptist Church in Centerville. Mr. Danley was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 70 years and a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars since 1945.

Survivors include his wife, Jean, and their two sons, COL Jim Danley, US Army, Retired, and wife Beverly, of Germantown, TN, and LTC Gary Danley, U.S. Army, Retired, and wife Lora, of Richmond, KY. Grandchildren are J.P. Danley of Los Angeles, CA, Jennifer Danley Wheeler (Joe), of Valrico, FL, Andrea Danley Francis (Kyle), of Lexington, KY, and Neal Robert Danley, of Richmond, KY.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 28, at McDonald Funeral Home, Inc., 102 West End Ave., Centerville, TN. Interment with military honors will be in O.A. Kirk cemetery, Linden, TN, at approximately 1:15 p.m.
