Norma Lee Laster

Memphis, TN

Norma Laster, 89, passed away September 18, 2017 at the Methodist Hospice Residence. She was born in Leslie, Arkansas and moved to Memphis after high school graduation. Here she met and married Prentiss Laster of Memphis, TN.

Norma retired from Rhodes College after 25 years of service in the Development Office. She was a long-time member of Grimes Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a leader of UMW and her Sunday School class. After retirement, she volunteered for over 25 years with the Methodist Hospital Auxiliary. Norma was a constant blessing to those around her and lived a life of service.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Prentiss Laster; parents, Frank and Myrtle Hollabaugh, and sister, Gladys Sutterfield.

Norma is survived by her daughter and son, Catherine Wood (George) and Glenn Laster (Dixie) and four grandchildren, Russell Laster, Cari Laster, Amy Wood and Emily Wood Baulig (John).

Visitation will be Thursday, September 21 from 5-7 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, with a Memorial service on Friday, September 22 at 10 a.m. at the Memphis Funeral Home followed by interment in Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Grimes Memorial United Methodist Church, 4649 Summer Avenue, Memphis, TN 38122 or Methodist Hospice Residence, 6416 Quince Road, Memphis, TN 38119.
