Norma Bolin Roop Obituary
Norma Bolin Roop

Senatobia, MS

Norma Bolin Roop, 82, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Saturday, September 2, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Norma was born in Memphis on April 29, 1935, the daughter of Walter and Jimmie Bolin. She was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. One day she met her neighbor, Henry Roop, a tall, handsome sailor, and it was love at first sight. Following a courtship they were married on August 4, 1956. Their romance reached perpetual full bloom with their lifelong love resulting in four children, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her family was her life.

After graduating from Whitehaven High School, she fulfilled her dream of attending Auburn University majoring in Art. Well known for her oil paintings, they have been displayed throughout the Mid South and will leave a treasured legacy for her family. Norma was intensely devoted to her children and was a caring and patient mother. She was "Paw Paw" and "Grandmama" to her grandchildren and will always be remembered by them for her loving spirit and a smile that could light up a room. She loved life most when surrounded by family in her home, serving them food from her kitchen and having her loyal friend "Peachy," a long haired miniature dachshund by her side. She enjoyed hosting her class reunions with her sister, Kay and cherished attending family reunions with her sister, Patsy. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well and by her sweet spirit and servant's heart.

She was preceded in death only three months prior by her husband, William Henry Roop, Sr., having shared 61 years of marriage. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives and legacy of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Daughter, Becky Roop; three sons: Henry Jr., Walter (Cindy), Timothy (Angie); seven grandchildren: Helon Roop (Nina), Lacey Roop, Tyler Roop, Olivia Roop, Jasmine Brock, Victoria Bobo (Nick), and Trenton Roop; two great-grandchildren: Carter Bobo and Emmaline Bobo. Also, her sisters, Kay Rylee and Patsy Wooten (Raleigh). Visitation will be Wednesday, September 6 from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m., with services immediately following at 1 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
