Patricia Jean Payne was received by her Lord and Savior on Friday August 4, 2017. Her final days were spent surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 26, 1940 in Memphis, Tennessee. She later moved to Texas in 1981 with her husband but remained a "Tennessean" at heart. Pat was a loving mother and grandmother. It brought her so much joy to spoil her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a huge dog lover and collector of all things Westie. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Louise Payne; her parents, James Milton Gentry and Lyda Boatwright Walker; her sisters, Shirley Gentry Bennett and Gail Joyce Gentry Bumpus. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, James L. Payne of Longview, Texas; son, James Russell Payne and daughter-in-law, Nancy Payne of Diana, Texas; daughter, Lisa L. Payne of Kanab, Utah; granddaughter, Lindsay and Daniel Hlebowicz of Montgomery, Texas; granddaughter, Whitney and Kerry Higginbotham; and great- grandchildren, Kadence and Karson Higginbotham of Diana, Texas; granddaughter, Ashley Payne of Diana, Texas; and many other family members that loved her dearly. The family will receive friends on Saturday August 12, at 10 a.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett, Tennessee 38113. A graveside service celebrating her life will immediately follow at 11 a.m. in Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Rd. Memphis, Tennessee 38134. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Westie Rescue of North Texas 15806 Ryan Lane, Frisco, Texas 75035.
