Memphis, tn

Raymond Wayne Davis, Jr. passed away peacefully on July 23, 2017, at the Methodist Hospice Residence after a short illness. Ray left school after the 8th grade to help on his 321 acre family farm, until he entered the Army during World War II. Ray was captured by the German Army in Hatten, France, and was liberated at war's end. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and received a presidential citation from President Harry Truman acknowledging his sacrifices.

Ray went on to work in the tire industry, ending his career as a shop manager for a Memphis tire company.

Ray is survived by two daughters, Patricia Davis Neargarth (Lawrence) and Kathleen Davis Helwig, two grandchildren, Timothy Neargarth (Darla) and Tamitha Neargarth; four step-daughters, Diana Stanfill, Carol Claunch, Donna Fields, and Kathy Curtis, and a special step-granddaughter Katie Curtis and special friends Joe and Frances Yarbrough.
