known also to friends and family as "Dick," passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2017, at the age of 73 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN.

Born in Memphis, Richard graduated from Whitehaven High School in 1961. He started and owned his own business General Communications Radio Sales & Service, Inc., which he sold upon retiring at age 52. He was the former president of Whitehaven Kiwanis Club and also served as lieutenant governor of Kiwanis International for Mississippi, Louisiana, and West Tennessee. In addition, he formed three new Kiwanis clubs in the cities of Germantown, Collierville, and East Memphis. As a longtime subscriber to the Orpheum Theatre, he enjoyed Broadway shows and loved all genres of music. Other hobbies included playing golf, playing bridge, traveling the world, motorbiking, and neighborhood walking with close family and friends.

With his undeniable charisma and gregarious personality, he touched the hearts, minds, and souls of so many people. His explosive laughter, infectious joy, and boundless optimism encouraged and uplifted everyone who knew him. He was a man after God's own heart, and everything he did throughout his life and in his relationships exemplified his faith in the Lord our God.

Richard will be forever remembered by his wife and the love of his life Martha Keith Day and his cherished daughter Anna Christina Franks of Germantown, TN; and by his brothers and sister, Carolyn Day of Houston, TX; Russell Day (Sharon) of Germantown, TN; and Charles Day (Renee) of Dacula, GA. He will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 15, 2017, at Memphis Funeral Home at 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119, beginning with visitation at 1 p.m., service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Will Jones presiding, and reception at 3 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Germantown Presbyterian Church, 2363 S. Germantown Rd, Germantown, TN 38138, the Keisie Hyde Band Scholarship Fund at Collierville High School at 1101 N. Byhalia Rd, Collierville, TN 38017 or to the .
