Richard Wallace Riley of Germantown, Tennessee died peacefully in his sleep on September 17, 2017, after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Danville, Virginia on November 1, 1931. He was the son of Alton B. Riley and Ruth Fields Riley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patsy Riley Boswell (John), and his brother A. B. Riley (Billie). He is survived by his loving wife, Jean of 57 years; daughter, Jeanie Morgan; son-in-law, CK; and his grandchildren, Alex, Riley, Keevie and Chase.

He was a graduate of George Washington High School in Danville, and The University of Georgia, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, received a degree in Business Administration and an officer's commission in the U. S Air Force. He served for two years of active duty at Donaldson AFB, South Carolina, and continued in the reserves for 20 years, including 15 years in the Air National Guard in Meridian, Mississippi retiring as a major. His civilian career consisted of 30 years as a bank examiner for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. After retiring from the FDIC, he was employed as a vice president of Trust One Bank in Germantown.

He is adored by the community of St. George's Episcopal Church, where he volunteered for the Antiques Arcade for many years and served as an usher. Richard loved watching Georgia football with his beloved family. He will be remembered as a wonderful brother, husband, grandfather, friend and man of God.

The funeral service will take place at St. George's Episcopal Church on Thursday, September 21 at 3 p.m., with the visitation proceeding at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. George's Episcopal Church.
