Roy L. Carter, Jr.

Cordova, TN

Roy L. "Skip" Carter, Jr. passed away, unexpectedly, Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at the age of 64, with his loving wife and daughters by his side.

Skip was a lifelong Memphis resident. He worked at BPI as a Transportation/Facilities Manager for over 38 years. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He was known to his friends as "dancing" bear and was a Memphis Tigers and Grizzlies enthusiast.

He is survived by his wife, Lou Anne Carter; daughter, Jane Gravier (Tony); daughter, Christi Carter; grandchildren, Reagan and Riley Gravier; father, Roy L. Carter Sr.; sister, Marcia Blackard (Hugh); niece, Stephanie Potter (Dave), and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Carter, mother and father-in-law, William and Merlene Hughey, and nephew, Blake Becker.

Visitation will be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133, (901) 937-1144, Friday, May 19, 5 p.m.-8 p.m., and Saturday, May 20, 9 a.m.-10 a.m., followed by services at 10 a.m.
