Ruben C. "Clay" Davis, 94, passed to his heavenly reward on February 22, 2017. He was born in the Greenleaf community on August 21, 1922. He served in the Army and attended Northwest Junior College after his service. He received his degree from Northwest in 2011, when he was 89 years old.

Clay was an avid antique car enthusiast and knife collector, longtime member of the Hernando Masonic Lodge, and one of the oldest members of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 474. Clay was a longtime member, former Lay Leader and Sunday School teacher at Baker's Chapel United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 11 a.m. until funeral service at 1 p.m. Both will be held at Baker's Chapel United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Baker's Chapel Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents "Jack" and Addie Davis, his brothers, Carlton, Thurman and Gerald Davis. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Ernestine Davis, and his two daughters, Debra (Randy) Williams and Judy (Terry) Marshall, all of Hernando. He was "Papa Clay" to four grandchildren Cigale (Gordy) Kuckert, Daniel (Stephanie) Williams, Adam Marshall, and Leeann (Robbie) Elrod. Nine great-grandchildren were very special to "Papa Clay" and "Meme." The family is blessed that all four generations live in Hernando.
