Sarah P. Finn Obituary
Sarah P. Finn

Memphis, TN

The life that began with the birth of the second of three children to Inez and William Pure, of blessed memory, on February 17, 1925, and spanned over ninety years of unwavering love of family and friends, came to a peaceful ending with the passing of Sarah P. Finn on March 21, 2017 after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, R.A. "Mickey" Finn, her brother, William Pure, Jr., her sister and brother-in-law, Rosalie and Harold Cantor, and her precious grandson, Danny Abromovitz. Surviving to treasure her memory are her sister-in-law, Marjorie Pure, her children, Lorin (Alan) Abromovitz, Larry (Pat) Finn, and Cary (Margaret) Finn, and her grandchildren, Michael, Josh and Stacie Abromovitz, Adam and David Finn, and Ross, Hannah and Tyler Finn, as well as her great grandchildren, Sarah, Andrew, Lily and Aiden Finn, and a multitude of cousins, nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Teter, as she was affectionately known to everyone, was born in Memphis and attended Bruce Elementary, Bellevue Jr. High and Central High School. She met Mickey, a young sailor stationed at Millington, and instantly knew that he was the man for her. They married in 1945, had three beautiful children, and cruised the world together until his sudden passing in 2004. Their homes on Peg Lane and later on Walnut Grove were the center of her family life, the place where she celebrated her treasured Jewish heritage and tradition and entertained friends for decades.

Teter was a member of Baron Hirsch Synagogue and Temple Israel, where she was actively involved in their sisterhoods and Hadassah. She was also proud to be a lifetime, card-carrying member of The National Mah Jongg League. She certainly has a seat reserved at a table with her dearest friends for eternity.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, March 23rd at the Levy-Cooper Chapel in Temple Israel Cemetery with burial immediately following. Donations may be made to Temple Israel or to the .
