Sharon Lewellen Sumrall

Sharon Lewellen Sumrall, 62, passed away on July 18, 2017 peacefully at home surrounded by her family after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Danny Sumrall; mother, Polly Lewellen; three adoring children, Lynde Tackett (Terin), Elizabeth Sledd (John Daniel), and Christopher Sumrall (Sarah); seven cherished grandchildren, Tyler, Rhett, Dillon, Reese, Cabe, Jade, and Baby Sumrall soon to arrive.

She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Lewellen; brothers, John and Jerry Bob Lewellen; mother-in-law, Cathrine Sumrall; father-in-law, Eddie Frank Sumrall; and brother-in-law, Michael Sumrall.

Sharon was born in El Paso, TX but moved to Arkansas shortly thereafter where she would grow up. Sharon met her beloved husband, Danny in Little Rock. They were married June 17, 1979 and moved to Tennessee. They spent one year in Nashville then moved to Memphis where they have been the last 37 years. Sharon and Danny both worked in the restaurant industry, and were passionate about serving the Memphis community. Giving back was important to them and they did this together. One of Sharon's greatest attributes was her huge heart and no one loved helping others, friends or strangers, more than she did. Throughout her entire life, she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She was a hardworking, strong, beautiful woman that devoted her life to us all without fail. She was loved by everyone that knew her and she will be missed more than words can say.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, July 21 and funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, July 22 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to or Serving Memphis, c/o Watkins Uiberall, 901-761-2720.
