Sidney Lee Sherrill, Jr. "Lee", 68, of Little Elm, TX, passed away on September 3, 2017 in Carrollton, TX.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Friday, September 8, 2017 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.

Homecoming services will be held at 10 a.m. on September 9, 2017 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens with Rev. Phil Newberry of Bellevue - Arlington, officiating. Burial will follow. Arrangements are by Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.

Lee was born in Memphis, TN to Sidney Lee, Sr. and Francis Marian Sherrill (Neil) on August 18, 1949. He went to Idlewild Elementary, Fairview Jr. High, and Memphis Technical High School (Class of '67). He then attended Memphis State University (Class of '72), earning a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Biology and minor in Math. He married Susan Gail Goldsmith on December 30, 1970. For his career, he spent over 41 years with the Shelby County Health Department, mostly working in Pollution Control. He was a notable member of Bellevue Baptist Church since his birth and was instrumental in starting and building the soccer program there. He was a loving brother, husband and father. Though most of all he loved the Lord, which showed through in his faith, sharing and coaching (soccer, baseball and basketball).

Lee is reunited with loved ones in heaven, preceded in death by his father, Sidney Lee Sherrill, Sr., his mother, Frances Marian Sherrill (Neil), maternal grandparents, Harvey Neil and wife Faustina, fraternal grandparents Sidney Rhone Sherrill and wife Alva, and niece, Oakleigh Elise Roberts.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Gail Sherrill (Goldsmith); son, Sidney Lee Sherrill, III and wife, Khara (Milam) of Prosper, TX, son, George Friederich Sherrill and wife, Lindsay (Kitt) of Murray, UT, sister, Vivian Sherrill-Roberts of Fayetteville, AR, stepmother, Genie Sherrill (Barron) of Somerville, TN, and six grandchildren, Meagan Elizabeth, Sidney Matthew, Dalton Rex, Leah Grace, Bridget Lee and Brock Owen.
