Stephen Theodore Bogardy Obituary
Stephen Theodore Bogardy

Bartlett, TN

Stephen Theodore Bogardy of Bartlett, TN sunrise December 30, 1966, sunset April 03, 2017.

Steve passed away at home after a battle with ALS. He is survived by his wife, Candy Bogardy, two sons, Alex and Harry, his parents, Larry and Sheila Bogardy, his brother, Tom Walker (Karen) and sister, Susan Gibson (Frank), as well as numerous other relatives. He was loved by all.

He was a wonderful husband, father…Blah blah blah. Reboot. Steve was so much more than a husband, father, son, and brother. He was a man of principle and honor. He often sacrificed himself for others. His moral compass was always strong, even with his "shades of gray" vision. Even facing death, his faith and grace shone through…or maybe His grace showed through Steve. Some of you remember his love of music. From Bach to Iron Maiden, music moved him. Steve's sense of humor was wickedly sharp; when ALS took his voice, he delivered the punchline on paper and through hand gestures. He was laughing up till the very eve of his death.

Steve worked at the Memphis Zoo and Aquarium for eighteen years. He expected nothing but the best from himself and others. His "get 'er done" attitude would both inspire and annoy, but have the most marvelous results.

Steve asked that you support our local zoo. Their work, in conservation and animal welfare, is recognized around the world. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Memphis Zoo and Aquarium.

The memorial service will be held April 7 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the Bartlett Event Center, 5785 Stage Road.
