Virginia Swift Williams-Wood Obituary
Virginia Swift Williams-Wood

Germantown, TN

Virginia Swift Williams-Wood ("GiGi") born October 22 1924 passed away April 7, 2017 at The Villages Healthcare Center in Germantown TN. Virginia was most recently married to William Lewis Wood and resided at The Villages Apartments in Germantown, TN. Virginia was married to John Washington Williams ("Jack") for most of her life until he passed away in 1988.

Jack and Virginia had three children. John Barron Williams (Barry) who lived in Germantown with his wife Joyce until they both passed away in 2008, Lynn Williams Stanley, who lives with her husband Bill Stanley in Delaware and George Swift Williams who lives with his wife Cindi in Texas. Virginia is survived by her two children, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who like everyone else, simply adored her.

Virginia was an avid Bridge player and loved playing almost any game with her many friends, family, children and grand kids. In fact she was known to have Barry, Lynn and George bring their high school friends over and promptly beat them at ping pong. Virginia spent almost every vacation moment with her children and grandchildren at their beloved lake home in Selmer, TN. It's was there that she loved to spend time with her family, floating on rafts, fishing, and water-skiing. And not one evening at the lake went by without GiGi dancing on the porch, swinging around one child after another…singing and laughing to her favorite music. She loved a good party and brought laughter and kindness everywhere she went. She loved animals and supported the Humane Society religiously. GiGi and Jack moved many times during Jack's career with PPG Industries and GiGi made dear friends in every town she lived. She just seemed to love everyone and everyone loved her back. She was truly an Angel on this Earth and she will be missed by everyone who knew her.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 13 in Elmwood Cemetery in Memphis.
