Wallace Edward Person, 85, of Lakeland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2017. Mr. Person was born at home in Bolton, Tennessee on July 1, 1931 to the late Bruce and Sadie Person. He graduated from Bolton High School and later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he served for twenty-three years. Mr. Person retired from the Air Force as a Chief Flight Engineer/E-9 in 1973. More recently, Mr. Person worked as Vice-President of Transportation at Orgill Corporation. Mr. Person came to enjoy running later in life, participating in numerous marathons across the country. He was a supporter of local law enforcement, received numerous certificates from his time with various citizens police academies, and volunteered teaching senior driving classes. Mr. Person was preceded in death by his brothers, Bruce and Roy Person, and his wife, Lenore Person. He is survived by his fiance, Kay Korte; his sister-in-law, Helen Person; several nieces and a nephew; and his fiance's children, Rod Korte (Penny) and Carmen Johnson, and Chad Korte, who preceded him in passing, as well as their children, Kayti Korte, Nikki Korte, Max Johnson, and Michaela Johnson. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from ten until the time of service at eleven o'clock at Bolton United Methodist Church, 7237 Brunswick Road, Arlington, Tennessee 38002. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Brunswick, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Person's memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
