William Alexander Turner, age 81, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at his home in Hattiesburg, MS. He was born April 29, 1937, in Jackson, MS. He was a graduate of Frayser High School in Memphis, TN and Memphis State University. Upon graduation with a U.S. Air Force commission, Alex was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, NE and in South Korea. After leaving the Air Force, he worked for Pinkerton Security followed by a 27 year career with the United States Treasury Department in the Division of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. Alex enjoyed photography, canoeing, camping, trail motorbiking, collecting firearms and many vacation visits to his favorite place, Jackson, WY. Alex was pre-deceased by his father, William E. Turner, his mother, Marie B. Turner, and his long-time companion of 37 years, Aunnette Coghlan. He is survived by three brothers, David E. Turner (Evylou) of Millington, TN, Paul C. Turner (Elizabeth) of Kingston, TN, and Mark A. Turner of Bartlett, TN, and 5 nieces and nephews. Alex is also survived by Aunnette's son, Chuck Coghlan (Tina) and family. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
