Wilson L. "Buddy" Douglas, 84, went to his eternal home Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at his home in Hernando, MS. Wilson Douglas was born December 14, 1932 in Hernando, MS to Andrew and Florence Douglas. Known as Buddy, he had a desire to help others around him. Buddy was a giving man who was always willing to help those he loved and those of his community. He graduated from Hernando High School in 1951 and attended Northwest Mississippi Community College. Wilson served his country in the military from 1951-1955, and is a veteran of the Korean War. Wilson served his country with a glad heart and returned home to pick up the family business. He was a businessman for 60+ years in Hernando and Third Generation Owner of Douglas Garage and owner of Buddy's Antiques. Wilson had a desire to serve the community by being elected the 20th mayor for the city of Hernando, MS. He served for two terms as mayor from 1985-1993. He also served as a Deacon for Gray's Creek Baptist Church. Wilson L. "Buddy" Douglas is proceeded in death by his parents, Andrew and Florence Douglas, his wife, Billy Sue Douglas, his brother, John Hardy Douglas, and his sister, Helen Douglas Morris. Wilson is survived by his longtime companion Beth Darby, sister-in-law, Dorothy Douglas (John Hardy) of Hernando, three nieces, Debbie Moore, Joy Morris Hitt, and Lorrie Blount, all of Hernando, two nephews, Steve Morris of Madison, MS and Paul Douglas of California and a host of dedicated great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at Hernando Funeral Home. Services will be at Gray's Creek Baptist Church in Hernando, MS on Sunday, with visitation at 1 p.m. and services at 2 p.m. Graveside services will follow directly after the funeral in Gray's Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Gray's Creek Baptist Church or Gray's Creek Cemetery.
