BARNSTEAD – Roscoe W. Tasker Sr., 84, of Beauty Hill Road, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at his son's home on Evans Mountain Road following a long illness.

He was born in Strafford the son of Harold and Mae (Wheeler) Tasker and lived in the Barnstead area all his life.

He was a farmer and a self employed contractor. He was a longtime member of the Barnstead Fire Dept. Parade Co. No. 1 and had served as fire chief for more than 15 years. He also was a New Hampshire Fire Warden. He was a member of the Grange, the NRA, and was a member and past president and Trail Master of the Suncook Valley Snow Riders. He was a longtime member of the New Hampshire National Guard.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janet (Tuttle) Tasker; a son, Roscoe W. "Rocky" Tasker Jr. and wife, Gail, of
Strafford; a daughter, Roxann Krause and husband, George "Rusty" Krause II, of Barnstead; six grandchildren, Tiffany and Danielle Krause, Kayla Severence, Meghan, Bryan and Connor Tasker; three great-grandchildren, Hayla Berry, Kai Abel and Brayden Severence; two sisters, Evelyn Locke of Alton and M. Edith Brown of Strafford; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, Jan. 8, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the 1st Congregational Church of Pittsfield on Main St.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, Jan. 9 at the Church at 1 p.m. The Rev. David Stasiak, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in the South Barnstead Cemetery, Route 126.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cornerstone Visiting Nurse Association Hospice Program, 178 Farmington Road
