PLYMOUTH – Carol E. Gittzus, 76, beloved wife and mother from Plymouth, passed away suddenly from natural causes in her home on Saturday, March 17, 2018. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 42 years, John G. Gittzus MD.

She was born in Connecticut on Dec. 20, 1941, to Irene and Stanley Conrad, and grew up just blocks from the ocean in West Haven, Conn. She graduated from Quinnipiac University and worked in health care for many years, including supporting the private practice of her husband John Gittzus MD where she was a meticulous record keeper.

After raising a family in Somers, Conn., she moved up to Plymouth full-time many years ago, where she loved living slopeside at Tenney Mountain. She enjoyed skiing for many years, fishing, and the outdoors. She was an avid birder and supported many generations of birds with her many backyard feeders (with the occasional bear or fox visitor!). She was an accomplished cross stitcher and crafter. She also enjoyed going to Yale football games and tailgating with family, visiting the ocean, and going to Boston Bruins games with her daughter, Jennifer Gittzus, son-in-law, Dan Pollard, and grandchildren, Sarah Pollard (age 8) and Gage Pollard (age 5). She also enjoyed spending time at the Plymouth Senior Center, where she had many friends and loved going to events and enjoyed lively discussions after meals. She also loved and was very proud of her granddaughter, Sarah and enjoyed watching her play hockey. She also loved her grandson, Gage who loved giving her hugs, and she knew him well enough to give him his favorite toy, a toy taxi. Both Sarah and Gage loved "Grandma Carol" very much and will miss her tremendously.

Burial services are private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Plymouth Regional Senior Center (please make checks out to PRSC, -- mail to P.O. Box 478, Plymouth, NH 03264, and indicate "In Memory of Carol Gittzus" on memo line).
