Roger C. "Bump" Quimby, age 90, of West Street passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Presidential Oaks.

He was born in Concord, the only son of the late Waldo and Laura (Conant) Quimby. He graduated early from Concord High School to enlist in the Navy in 1945, he was stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center and in Coronado, Calif. He attended college at UNH and American University.

Bump worked as the manager of the State of NH Print Shop for over 30 years. He had also worked as the assistant clerk for the NH State Senate in Concord. He enjoyed being a supervisor of the Checklist for Ward 7 for more than 25 years.

He was affectionately referred to as the Mayor of West Street. Due to his personal interest in everything going on in Concord he enjoyed watching the local broadcast of the City Council and School Board meetings. In his younger years he was an Eagle Scout and member of the Jaycees. Bump was a lifelong Republican who was married to a lifelong Democrat which made for interesting dinner conversation.

Bump's greatest passion was supporting UNH Hockey where he spent over 50 years as their biggest fan, traveling extensively to support the team regardless of the weather or distance. He was a founding member of the Friends of UNH Hockey. His vast collection of hockey pins, pucks, yearbooks and media guides was unparalleled.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jeanne (Bennett) Quimby.

Bump is survived by his daughter, Anne Quimby Hartshorn of Concord and her partner, Donald Beaule; his granddaughter, Becky (Hartshorn) Allen and her husband, Michael of Wilmington, Del.; his grandson, Adam Hartshorn and his wife, Noelle of Weston, Mass.; his seven great grandchildren, Andrew, Jack, Hailey and James Allen, and Avery, William and Bennett Hartshorn; and he also leaves behind his good friend and helper, Leon Parent; and his two four-legged friends, Belle and Leo.

Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main Street, Concord.

Burial will be in the Spring at the Blossom Hill Cemetery.
