Nancy Ball Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 28, 2018.
GILMANTON – Nancy Louise Ball, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2018, in Concord, surrounded by her loving family.

Nancy Louise Ball lit up every room she entered with her generous spirit and passion for life. Her children, Kirsten and Dylan, were the loves of her life. A resident of Gilmanton for more than 35 years, she was a practicing attorney and partner at Sheehan & Gordon in Concord, and most recently, Of Counsel. Cook and entertainer extraordinaire, Nancy's parties drew people from far and near.  She most loved dinner parties with her friends and family, which often included her breaking out into song and dance. A world traveler and avid art lover, she enjoyed music of all sorts and was in her element at a local concert in Concord or the opera in New York. Nancy was the most stylish woman of all and never left a new city without a new pair of shoes. She never dwelled on the negative and always embraced the positive in every aspect of life. She made friends wherever she went and left a lasting impression on all who crossed paths with her by making each person feel important and loved. In Nancy's later years, she found lasting love with her life partner, Chris, and together they experienced the many wonders of life.

Survivors include her children, Kirsten Mallory of Brighton, Mass. and Dylan Mallory of Arizona, Christopher Hottel of Gilmanton and Mark Mallory of Gilmanton; her sister, Janet Tallon and brother-in-law, Todd; her brother, Jeffrey; brother-in-law and sister in-law, Bruce Mallory and Janet Prescott; brother-in-law, Jack Mallory; her nieces, Ava and Anna and nephews, Graham, Riley, Alex and Devlin; her adopted niece, Hillary; and her many close friends in Concord and Gilmanton and beyond.

She was predeceased by her parents, Melville Robert Ball and Louise Gilmore, and by her brother, Michael.

The family will hold a celebration of Nancy's life later this year at Loon Pond in Gilmanton.

In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to send a donation in Nancy's name to the American Cancer Society, 2 Commerce Drive, Suite 110, Bedford NH 03110 or to a cause they believe reflects Nancy's life and values.

Nancy and I shared 40 years together in the Gilmanton community and I'm so sorry not to have been there as she made this transition. She was like a sister, and her whole extended family was like my family as well. She is loved and missed by everyone. I thank her for being my closest of friends for so long.

I was on the Women's Lobby Board with Nancy years ago - a wonderful, generous, pleasant contributor to the betterment of NH in many ways. Am so sorry for your loss.

Nancy --- Articulate and humorous- especially when accented with a twinkle of the eye and a slight tip of the lip. Her rosey cheeks were the perfect accent. Nancy, I will miss you in my life. Your loss is profound. You were a gift to everyone who you embraced. Your children and mine were enhanced by your exuberant zest for life. What a mentor you have been to us all. Thank you, sister. Peace be with you. Susan
