Dana Barker Obituary
He attended Concord High School and grew up in the family business TranScan/Regional Manufacturing Specialists in the manufacturing of transformers. Upon leaving the family business, Dana worked for Century 21 selling real estate until his brother David and he founded Brite Technologies Inc. in Bow. After selling this business, Dana went back into the family business until a year ago.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Sonja, of 26 years, together for a total of 32, along with his two sons Bryan Barker and girlfriend Gabrielle Mantel of Methuen, Mass., and Kevin Barker of Durham, his mother Louise Barker of Concord, his brother and best friend David Barker and wife Lisa and a nephew Devin of Troutman, N.C., brother Steven Barker and wife April of Hopkinton, brother Lee Barker of Concord and sister Brenda Martel of Bow, a sister-in-law Lisa Boyd and her husband Richard Boyd II. He is also survived by his close niece and nephew who he enjoyed visiting in Florida, Matthew Barker and his wife Jen and their children Camryn and Juliet, Rebecca Schmidt and fiancée James Truitt, along with his nephew Richard Boyd III and wife Lizbett of Manchester. He leaves numerous additional aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dana loved being involved with his sons, coaching his boys' youth hockey and soccer teams, and enjoyed supporting them at their sporting and extracurricular events throughout their high school years.
Dana's favorite pastimes included golfing, hunting, fishing and a newfound hobby of playing darts in which he created many lasting friendships. He was an avid outdoors enthusiast who loved cheering on his favorite team, the Boston Bruins.
A memorial visiting hour will be held Wednesday, Feb. 17, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Waters Funeral Home, 50 S. Main St., Concord.
A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Waters Funeral Home. Virginia Fryer will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to the Bow Booster Club, 55 Falcon Way, Bow, 03304 and the Bow Rotary Scholarship Fund P.O. Box 1935, Bow, 03304.

We were so sorry to read Dana's death. We have been out of touch for many years, Our Rockport days with all the Barker's were a good memories for us.. I will always fondly recall the good times Dana and I had over the last twenty years. We spent a good deal of time together with our boys in hockey, as well as, lacrosse. He was a good friend and had a sense of humor that wouldn't quit. He and Sonja gave the boys a good lesson about what it's like to be good parents and inspire a good work ethic.
