PINEHURST— Funeral services for Deacon Felder “Buck” Coes of Pinehurst will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 8 in the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.Mr. Coes, 90, died Monday, March 3, 2008 in Crisp Regional Hospital.Born in Dooly County to the late Sam Felder Coes and Georgia Mae Jackson Coes, he was the widower of the late Willie mae Byrom Coes. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as past chairman of the deacon board, and superintendent and teacher of the Sunday school. He also was on the usher board and served as treasurer of the church. He was the oldest member, deacon and father of the church. He was a member of the Georgia Union Missionary Baptist Association, the First District Union where he served as secretary. He was a member of the Franklin Lodge No. 210 F and AM, Royal Arch Mason, St. John Chapter No. 88, OES. He was a retired farmer and a former night patrolman for the City of Pinehurst for a number of years. He and his late wife had also been foster parents for children in Dooly County. Survivors include his daughter, Willie Ruth Coes Love of Buffalo, N.Y.; a son, William A. (Carol) Coes of Gary, Ind.; a sister, Anna Eva Wallace of Unadilla; a brother, Richard (Norma Jean) Coes of Miami, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Bertha Coes of Atlanta; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a god-daughter, Ozzie Mae Ritchey of Miami, Fla.; a devoted caregiver, Beverly D. Bolden of Pinehurst; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing families and friends including the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church family, the Vienna Senior Citizens Center and the Pinehill Nursing staff.The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7-8 p.m. At other times they may be contacted at 1414 Railroad St., Pinehurst.Alvie Coes Funeral home of Unadilla has charge of the arrangements.
