Ted E. Moore

COSHOCTON: Ted E. Moore, 87, of Coshocton, Ohio passed away Friday, April 27, 2012 at Autumn Health Care. Ted was born February 24, 1925 in Newcomerstown, Ohio to the late Ted and Ruth Moore. He was the Grandson of the late J. Walter and Roxanne (Hanna) Moore of Uhrichsville, and Lawrence and Edith Mills of Coshocton.

Ted was a 1942 Graduate of Coshocton High School. On October 13th, 1946 Ted married Grace A. Royer whom passed away November 28th 2009. In May, 1943 Ted joined the United States Army and served in the 160th Battalion Engineer Division, Company C in World War II during which he received 2 purple hearts for his service. During the war Ted built platoon bridges for artillery units. Ted spent time in just about every European Campaign- Including the Battle of the Bulge, Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He had the honor of briefly meeting Gen. Patton. After being Honorable discharged in November, 1945 Ted worked as a meat cutter, then at G.E. and finally worked for and retired from the United States Postal Service. Ted was a 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of the DAV, VFW, Shriners, and the Newcomerstown Elks.

He is survived by his brother Larry (Chrissy) Moore, of Las Vegas, Nevada; sisters, Edith Ann Moore of Coshocton, E. Jane (Bill) Albert of Coshocton, Mary Carol Ungurean of Coshocton, Gracie (John) Fant of Covina, California, and Linda McVay of Orlando, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Grace Moore; two nephews, James Albert and Randy McVay; and an infant niece.

Graveside services for Ted will be held at Fairfield Cemetery in West Lafayette, Ohio, at 11:00AM on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 where the Coshocton County Veterans Council will perform military honors.
