Funeral services for Richard Julius Parkans will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 10:00am at St Joseph Catholic Church in New Waverly, Texas. Burial will follow at a later date in Stayton, Oregon. Richard was born August 3, 1939 in Bronx, New York to Julius and Carmen Parkans and passed away March 30, 2012 in Conroe, Texas. After graduating NYU, he entered the US Air Force as a commissioned officer, stationed in Columbus, Mississippi, and Bentwaters, England attaining the Rank of Captain. Richard worked for Shell Oil for 31 years. Upon retiring, he became an active member of St Joseph Catholic Church in New Waverly, Texas. Richard was a private pilot and member of the Ancient and Secret Order of the Quiet Birdmen, Aircraft Owners and Pilot's Association and Experimental Aircraft Association. Richard is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jaqueline Steward. He leaves behind to cherish his many memories, his wife, Kathryn Marie Parkans; Dick's children, Robert Charles Parkans and his wife, Sandra and Susan Heidi Johnson and her husband, Kyle; Kathy's children, Angela Marie Franklin and Amy Elizabeth McQueen; Dick's sister, Harriet Simonsen; Dick's grandchildren, Jessica Robinson, Angela Sullivan, Ian Price, Stephanie McGehee, Dakoda Quentin Johnson and R. Brycen Parkans; Kathy's grandchildren, Jordan Ashley Truman, Avery Elizabeth Franklin and Luke Franklin. Pallbearers will be Tom Fisher, Bill Teaff, Orlan Franks, Dan Brouse, Max Mahaffee and Harold LeSage. You are invited to leave written condolences to the family at www.cashnerconroe.com. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to SVDP @ St Joseph's Catholic Church, 101 Elmer, St, New Waverly, TX 77358.
