Bobby Glenn Catchings, age 66, died on October 24, 2016. He was born on February 14, 1950 in Liberty, Texas. Some families have lots of sons born to them.... ours had only one. And ONE was all we needed! Whether he was protecting our country in the uniform of a U.S. Soldier or protecting our city in the uniform of A Fire Fighter or protecting our streets (and ballrooms and bars and...) in the uniform of a Police Officer, we could always count on Uncle Bobby Catchings to be there, working to keep us safe and to keep us smiling! At Grandma's house, we could even count on him to save the day at any family get together or holiday dinner. The "help" he gave in the kitchen was like no other!! "I helped!!!" (in our house today, we've forever named that classy move the "Bobby Glenn") We lost a true hero on Monday. He will be missed here on earth but also always be right here with us in our hearts and our memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents, A.J. and Mamie Catchings; sister, Donna LeGrand; niece, Heather Gates; and former wife, Charlotte Harris. He is survived by his daughter, D'Ann Wilson; sons, Jason Catchings and wife Erin, Jeremy Catchings and wife Kim, Joshua Catchings and wife Michelle and Kolton Catchings; grandchildren, Anderson, Vivian, Caleb, Wyatt, Sada, Evada, Corbin and Aderra Catchings; sisters, Martha Gates and Peggy Milton and her husband Bill; former wife, Cathy Catchings; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Northside Baptist Church, 701 North FM 3083 West, Conroe, TX 77303. Those wishing to post tributes and memories to the family may do so at www.eickenhorstfuneral.com.

What a genuinely kind and strong person. Bobby could be so funny, but underneath that humor was a man with a big heart who treated everyone with respect. He defines "public servant." A loss for Conroe.

Our nation did lose a great hero in Mr. Catchings. I wish I could have met him in person to shake his hand and thank him for his life long service to our nation. I know Mr. Catchings was a great man,all I have to do is look at the fine young man who called him Dad; his son Jason. God bless your family, and give you comfort in this time of your families loss.
