Roland was born on August 7, 1950 in Houston, Texas and passed away at peace on September 5, 2012 in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Aldine High School in 1969 and shortly thereafter, joined the Navy. He was stationed on the USS Oklahoma City and was on active duty in Vietnam until May of 1973. Years after becoming an electrician by trade and moving to Conroe, Texas, he joined the Fiesta Mart Grocery Stores from 1992 until 1999. That year Roland and Holly went into a venture together and took over a small grocery store "The Country Market." In 2008 they opened "Ferrell's Country Spirits." Roland loved to go hunting and fishing and also enjoyed watching his livestock in the pastures. Roland was a caring and loving husband, son, brother, father, grandfather and friend who lived life to its fullest and loved to laugh. Roland had a big, kind heart and loved spending precious time with his family and friends. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed. Roland was preceded in death by his father, Dwaine Roland Ferrell. He is survived by his loving family: his mother, Stella Fay Randall Ferrell; his beloved wife, Wilhelmina "Holly" Ferrell van den Hombergh; his daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Kenneth Rogers; his grandchildren, Shelby, Allison and Cole; and his brother, Dwaine Randall Ferrell. Numerous other dear relatives and friends also survive. Kenneth Rogers, Sraar van den Hombergh, Bart Spitters, Richard Mills, Jack Cagle, and Terry Lowe will serve as Roland's pallbearers.
