Iva Nell Porter Struthers, 89, of Montgomery Texas went to be with the Lord on January 17 th , 2016. She was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on April 11, 1926 to the late Major and Lena Porter. Nell graduated from Pine Bluff High school and worked for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 30 years, eventually becoming a Chief Operator. She married her loving husband, the late John Hodgekiss Struthers on May 5 th , 1945, in San Antonio Texas. They spent much of their retirement traveling and spending time with family. Nell truly loved the Lord and frequently shared her knowledge of the bible with her family and friends. She is survived by her four children; John Struthers and wife Elisa, Priscilla Avery and husband Gene, Mildred King, Ruth Thorne and husband Rodney. She has also been blessed with grandchildren, Shannon Bratton, Duane Struthers, Dean Collin, Tara Petsch, Mitzi Morkisch, Crystal Aldridge, John Struthers, Kristin Williams, Richard King, Angela Dunning, Kendel Struthers, Payton Struthers, Keatha Brown, Marliese Stripling and many Great Grandchildren. Nell is also survived by her brother Donald Porter and sister Mary Stone.
The family wishes to thank all who cared for Nell in the last few years, especially the caregivers at Caregiver Connection. May God bless each and every one of you!
Visitation will be at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas on Thursday, January 21, 2016 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
Funeral Service for Iva Nell Struthers will be held at the Cashner Colonial Chapel on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 10:00am with interment following at Garden Park Cemetery.
There will also be a catered reception at Cashner Funeral Home following interment.
