AJ Berg, 87, died peacefully in Conroe, TX on June 7, 2016. Berg was born on November 28, 1928, in Philadelphia, PA, to Isadore and Molly Berg. In 1951, he joined the Marine Corps and was assigned to Camp Lejeune, NC. SSgt. Berg was discharged with full honors in 1959. He was very proud of his Marine Corps service. AJ married Ruth R. Ashe in Philadelphia on June 16, 1965. They have two sons; he was a fiercely dedicated and loving father. He worked as an independent truck driver until 1982, when he moved the family to Texas and started a successful pre-owned car business. He sold the business in 2001 and continued to buy and sell cars on a limited basis until 2014. AJ loved cars, trucks, and motorcycles, almost as much as he loved his family. He was active in old car and motorcycle clubs for 50 years, including clubs for Model A Fords, Model T Fords, Buicks, Harley-Davidsons, etc., serving as national president at one time for the CHVA. He enjoyed driving his cars in various community parades. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ruth, and sons, Adam (wife Amber) and Jason (wife Gayle); his grandchildren Jacob, Amanda, Samantha, and Trevor, his cousin, Julia Goldin, and many devoted friends. A memorial service will be held at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, at 10am on June 9. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Eastex Detachment, Marine Corps League #779, PO Box 523, Conroe, TX 77305.
